Messy Hello World

Whenever learning a new computer language, for years fledgling programmers have been outputting the phrase “Hello World.”
I started a journey over the last few years to complete my debut novel. I had so much anxiety about putting myself out there in the right way, I ended up stunted, not doing anything at all.
There are so many so-called “gurus” — of personal development, entrepreneurship, YouTube, Instagram, all the socials — that I became buried rather than trying my own thing. I’m a magical thinker; so is my husband. We have no problem putting big dreams on things but sometimes fail at taking the advice of those who’ve been there, making the path easier. Sometimes we do, but he’s not a famous professional cornhole player as he aspires to be, and I’m not a best-selling author. We are at the beginning of a hike up a steep, treacherous mountain.
Sometimes I feel like I can’t hold onto my dreams. That’s probably why I decided to create a magical being that would carry them for us when I finally pursued my dream of being a novelist. I created a world where these Vision Catchers are out there, holding onto our ideas, dreams, our visions for us — and trying to push them back to us.
And because I want all the dreams that one person cannot hold, once I came up with this fictional idea, I then wanted to create a community to serve as the real-life gathering spot of those dreams. So, as I’m launching my debut novel, I’m also choosing to launch a new project to do just that. You can check it out at visioncatching.com.
I’m not taking on an additional business venture because I’m a masochist, but precisely because I’m not. I want to live a life full of imagination. So, what I’m trying to say is: Hello World. I’d like to welcome you into mine — as I chase my dreams and try to do all the things I imagined.
